Every Piece Has a Story

Tam’s Rustic Creations grew from a love of making things by hand and turning ordinary pieces of wood into something personal. What started as pyrography became a way to create memorials, family keepsakes, custom gifts, seasonal pieces, and one-of-a-kind artwork built around the people and memories that matter.

I’m also the author of Buried Pennies: A Memoir of Secrets, Shadows and Survival. Writing that book taught me how much meaning can live inside a memory — and that same idea shows up in my artwork. Whether I’m creating a memorial board, a birthday gift, a family piece, or something completely unexpected, I want it to feel personal and made with purpose.

Every piece is handcrafted, never mass-produced, and no two are exactly alike.

Hand-Burned Difference

The difference is in the burn.

True pyrography is created by hand, one shade and stroke at a time. The depth, texture, and character come from controlling the heat directly — no lasers, no machines, no two pieces exactly alike

Unlike laser engraving, hand-burned art carries the small variations that come from working directly with the wood. Those differences are part of what make each piece unique — shaped by the grain, the heat, and the human hand behind it.
